We much appreciate these comments [1]. Based on the recommendation, we did the new analyses of medical treatment on gout. Comparing them to the gouty patients without using anti-gout drugs, the patients taking anti-gout drugs exhibited a significantly lower risk of OED (adjusted HR=0.30, 95% CI=0.17–0.52) and PED (adjusted HR=0.70, 95% CI=0.57–0.85). Gout is an inflammatory disease; inflammation can be controlled by anti-gout drugs. Quality of life likely better after pain relief led to lower risk of OED and PED.
