Disorders of glucose metabolism are highly prevalent among patients with established cerebrovascular disease. Up to 60% to 70% of patients may have dysglycemic state [1]. However, to date, insufficient evidence is available to show that stroke recurrence prevention will be improved by intensive glucose-lowering treatment in people with diabetes or related disorders. Moreover, no hypoglycemic drug has been proven to reduce subsequent strokes [1].
