The metabolic syndrome is a common disorder, which includes the presence of at least 3 out of 5 metabolic risk factors according to the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III [1]. It has been observed that metabolic syndrome is highly prevalent in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) [2] and also depression is a common comorbidity in CAD with an increased risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality [3,4]. The aim of this study was to assess if depressive symptomatology is more prevalent in stable CAD patients with metabolic syndrome.
