AA amyloidosis (AAA) is a major complication of chronic inflammation. It is the consequence of the deposition of fibrils of serum amyloid A protein (SAA) in tissues [1]. Lachman et al. prospectively studied AAA natural history and outcome, and highlighted several risk factors for death, such as for example the cause of AAA, or the severity of kidney involvement [2]. Nevertheless, AAA's epidemiology has changed in recent years [3], with fewer cases of AAA caused by inflammatory rheumatisms, whereas new causes are rising, such as obesity [4].
