Sarcoidosis is a multisystem disease of unknown etiology characterized by the formation of non-caseating granulomas [1]. Sarcoidosis primarily affects the lungs and lymphatic system, but any organ may be involved [2]. The clinical course of disease is variable; there are spontaneous remissions in up to two thirds of the patients, while the remaining patients have a chronic and progressive disease [3].
