The gastrointestinal (GI) tract is affected in up to 90% of patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc). SSc is a key contributor to impairment and disability, leading to remarkable abnormal social functioning and impaired quality of life [1,2], and it is one of the leading causes of death in the past decades [3].
