Alcohol consumption remains one of the most pervasive and modifiable risk factors influencing global health. Its dualistic nature—protective in moderation, harmful in excess—has long fascinated clinicians and epidemiologists alike. While its role in arterial disease and cancer is well established, the relationship between alcohol and venous thromboembolism (VTE) has remained elusive. Conflicting findings, methodological heterogeneity, and reliance on self-reported intake have hindered definitive conclusions.
