It is with great honour that we, the Swedish Internal Medicine Society (SIM), will be hosting the 12th<\/sup> Winter School of the European School of Internal Medicine, February 11th<\/sup>– 17th<\/sup>\u00a02024 in Bj\u00f6rkliden, Sweden. We welcome you to Swedish Lapland!<\/p>

Last year\u2019s school was a success and we are so grateful for all of our fantastic participants and lecturers from Europe and beyond. We hope to provide another year of diverse and exciting programme of lectures, workshops and social activities.<\/p>

Please note that you cannot apply to the school directly from us, but only through your national organisation,\u00a0contact details here<\/a><\/b>.\u00a0Internal Medicine residents will be handpicked from countries in the European region by their local organisations to participate in the School.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The planned activities aim to improve not only clinical knowledge, but also to stimulate discussion and ideas. We hope residents will develop a better understanding of Internal Medicine and how it is practised in different parts of Europe and beyond. As well as having fun, participants will develop a social and professional network reaching across our region, which we hope will last many years into the future.<\/span><\/p>

Dates \u2013 Arrival and welcome Sunday 11th<\/sup> February 2024. Departure Saturday 17th<\/sup> February 2024.<\/p>

Accommodation \u2013 Hotell Fj\u00e4llet<\/a><\/strong>, Bj\u00f6rkliden, Lappland, Sweden. Accommodation is included for the duration of the course (11-17th February). If residents wish to arrive earlier or depart later – please liaise directly with the hotel for the extra nights.<\/span><\/p>

Meals are included and will mostly be at the hotel.<\/span><\/p>

Bj\u00f6rkliden is a mountain station with beautiful scenery and an abundance of snow- and ice-based activities.<\/p>

Case reports<\/b> – during the school each country’s residents will together present a case report that has been prepared beforehand as a collaborative effort.<\/p>

VISA<\/b><\/span> – residents from some countries will require a visa to enter Sweden, predominantly non-EEA countries. Check the information on <\/span>this website<\/strong><\/a> for more information.<\/span><\/p>

Covid-19<\/b> – during the school we will be following the Swedish national and local guidelines regarding Covid-19. At present there are no specific Covid-19 restrictions or requirements for entry to Sweden but this may of course change with short notice. Bj\u00f6rkliden is remote in Swedish Lapland – we hope that the isolation is part of the charm, but it does make getting there somewhat of an adventure! With this in mind, we recommend booking travel as soon as possible. Below are some links that may help residents and speakers. Residents need to arrive before 7pm February 11th. Residents depart after breakfast February 17th. Residents should return the travel forms (air or land) they received via mail LATEST 10th January 2024.<\/b><\/p>

Recommended flights for residents will be posted here (link<\/strong>). With these flights residents will be able to take the organised transfer (cash 30\u20ac one way, 50\u20ac return), otherwise please organise your own transfer via Bus <\/a><\/span>(Kiruna Airport- Bj\u00f6rkliden, Hotel Fj\u00e4llet) or\u00a0Train<\/span><\/a>\u00a0(Kiruna Station – Bj\u00f6rkliden Station). The nearest airport is Kiruna (via Stockholm). If you choose to fly to narvik (Oslo) you will have to organize your own transfer to the hotel.<\/p>

Night train<\/b><\/a>\u00a0– Stockholm Central (C) or Arlanda airport – Bj\u00f6rkliden station (5 minute walk to the hotel).<\/p>
