The rate at which emergency medical conditions present is dependent on social deprivation; an eightfold difference in the annual incidence rate from 5/1000 to 40/1000 may occur [1]. The explanation as to why discrete communities within society have or acquire different healthcare outcomes is unclear; however, admission incidence rates are linearly related to deprivation index and appear deeply embedded within the structure of society [1].
