We would like to thank the interest in our paper “Prognostic implications of a negative echocardiography in patients with infective endocarditis” [1]. Our aim was to address the impact of echocardiographic results on the prognosis of this group of patients. Echocardiography is one of the pillars for the diagnosis of infective endocarditis (IE), especially transoesophageal echocardiography [2]. Echocardiography continues to be the first imaging examination to perform in cases of suspected IE [3], as it is readily available, low-cost and a non-invasive method.
