We would like to thank all our GA members who joined us in Athens on Wednesday 15 March during the ECIM 2023 congress.
Around 80 Assembly representatives, Young Internists and Executive Committee members, representing 31 national societies, participated at the meeting on 15 March.
We discussed ways to promote awareness of internal medicine and how to increase the collaboration among our national societies’ members. We would like to thank all our societies on the active participation and the ongoing commitment to EFIM.
This year we had very busy agenda approving several EFIM projects, the new home of EFIM, EFIM annual accounts and we held our elections for the President Elect position. For the first at EFIM GA we had three very strong candidates presenting their nomination for President Elect. Following the voting rules according to the EFIM Statutes, Article 11, the members of the General Assembly elected Prof. George Dalekos from the Hellenic Society of Internal Medicine as the next EFIM President-Elect. Prof. Dicker congratulated all candidates for their strong input and great ideas and welcomed Prof. Dalekos to the EFIM Executive Committee.
Additionally, we were very sad to be saying farewell to our past President Prof. Nicola Montano who stepped down from the Executive Committee after more than 6 years of full dedication and hard work.
Furthermore, we are pleased to welcome two new member societies to EFIM, the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh as ordinary member and the Mexican College of Internal Medicine as Associate member. EFIM is now comprising of 38 national societies from 35 countries in Europe and outside becoming the leading professional organisation for internists in Europe. Read more here
