Exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) reduces all-cause mortality, reinfarction and revascularisation rates, and rehospitalizations for cardiovascular disease [1,2]. While the immediate effects on maximal aerobic capacity (VO2max), quality of life and cardiovascular risk factors are evident [3], the perseverance over time remains to be elucidated.
