We thank Drs. Verdecchia, Grossmann and Whelton for their interest and comments on the 2023 Guidelines on Hypertension of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) [1]. The points they raise are important both for the structure of guidelines in general and, more specifically, for the issues related to patients with a blood pressure (BP) elevation [2]. We have elected to reply to the points, which seem to us to manifest a view that differs more or less substantially from the view of the ESH guidelines.
