We read with great interest a recently published study by Rikuta Hamaya, Molin Wang, Ellen Hertzmark, et al. regarding modifiable lifestyle factors in the primordial prevention of hypertension [1]. In that article, the authors found that there is an uncontested association between some lifestyle factors and the incidence of hypertension. It has been proven that Body Mass Index (BMI) has the strongest associations with incident hypertension and early-onset hypertension. However, other factors such as diet, physical activity and alcohol intake also have an impact on the development of hypertension [1].
