Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death among chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients. It has been demonstrated that even minor degrees of renal dysfunction are associated with enhanced CVD risk [1]. Except for ischemic heart disease due to accelerated atherosclerosis in CKD, there are many other mechanisms causing CVD death that are not fully understood. The corrected QT (QTc) interval represents the time from onset of depolarization to completion of repolarization of the heart, adjusted for heart rate.
