The Global Burden of Disease Study revealed that chronic respiratory diseases remain to be leading cause of death and disability worldwide [1]. In the recent years, the world has experienced a dramatic healthcare situation due to the rapid spread of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the agent responsible of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Subjects with respiratory diseases are considered as vulnerable groups at a higher risk of SARS-CoV-2 acute infection.
