Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a systemic vasculitis that typically affects large and medium vessels in patients over 50 years of age [1–3]. In addition to the cephalic presentation mainly explained by the involvement of the branches of the external carotid, large vessel vasculitis (LVV) is not rare. According to different studies, the aorta and its main branches are affected in 30–40 % of GCA patients [4–10].
