Atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases encompassing coronary artery disease, and stroke, remain major causes of death worldwide regardless the substantial advances in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases [1]. Proven risk factors for cardiovascular diseases include non-modifiable factors such as the male sex, age, and family history of cardiovascular diseases, and modifiable factors including overweight/obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and dysglycemia/diabetes mellitus [2].
