The prevalence of obesity continues to rise in Europe, particularly in adults aged between 60 and 74 years [1]. Despite this rising prevalence of obesity in older adults, use of medication for weight loss has often been considered controversial, owing to concerns regarding potential acceleration of age-related sarcopenia and loss of functional capacity for independent living. In addition, (unintentional) weight loss in older people is negatively perceived because it may indicate underlying malignancy [2].
