Length of Stay (LOS) is a widely recorded metric used in hospital management and considered an important indicator of healthcare efficiency [1]. Despite its strategic value and one of the longest average LOS, Italy lags in adopting this approach. In this context, thresholds for hospitalization duration and rehospitalization rates have been proposed as quality indicators to enhance the sustainability of acute care services [2]. In 2019, the Italian Ministry of Health reported high hospitalization rates among the elderly, with many patients experiencing delays in discharge [3].
