Brucellosis is a zoonotic infectious disease caused by Brucella spp, an intracellular facultative anaerobe Gram negative bacteria transmitted to humans by domestic (cattle, goats, sheep, swine, dogs) and non-domestic (e. g. camels) animals [1,2]. The disease particularly prevails in Mediterranean, Balkan, Sub-Saharian, Middle East and Central Asia countries affecting mostly people with professional exposure or consumption of unpasteurized dairy products whilst Brucella spp is recognized as a potential biological weapon [1-4].
