Coffee is a popular beverage that is consumed in every corner of the world. It has been estimated that at least 50 percent of adults in the United States drink coffee on a regular basis [1]. With its popularity, several epidemiologic studies have been conducted to evaluate for the potential health risk and benefit of coffee consumption. Although the evidence is still not conclusive, several studies have suggested the potential benefit of this beverage with a lower incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, cardiovascular disease as well as a decreased in overall mortality [2-4].
