Heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a major public health problem that is associated with a high morbidity and mortality [1] leading to an excess in hospitalizations and health care costs [2]. Hence, identifying additional risk factors for HFpEF could aid in reducing HFpEF-related adverse outcome through enhanced surveillance and management of high-risk populations.
