Zika virus (ZIKV) infection is a great matter of concern globally. Though asymptomatic in the majority of cases, the effect of this virus on fetal growth has drawn attention. ZIKV is a positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus. [Fig. 1] It is from the family Flaviviridae. ZIKV is composed of 2 noncoding regions (5′ and 3′) of an open reading frame. This frame encodes a polyprotein which cleaves into the capsid, precursor of the membrane, envelope, as well as seven non-structural proteins [1].The neurotrophic effect of this virus has already been suggested.
