We welcome the move against homeopathy of the highest medical deontological authority in Italy (Federation of the Associations of Physicians, Surgeons, and Odontologists, FNOMCeO). Early in May this year a FNOMCeO note stated that “at present there is no scientific proof or biological plausibility supporting the soundness of homeopathic theories…” This is a courageous statement as it moves against not only the consolidated beliefs of consumers and a florid market but, sadly, also the consideration that the European Commission granted homeopathic products when it regarded them as medicinal products [1].
