Obesity is a major public health concern, with global data highlighting that 650 million adults are living with obesity and 1.9 billion adults are living with overweight [1]. Current epidemiological trends show that the rates for overweight and obesity rise with age and peaks for the age group 50-65 years and the obesity prevalence among older people has increased significantly [2,3]. Management of obesity involves lifestyle intervention, pharmacotherapy or bariatric surgery; behavioural lifestyle interventions are the first line intervention [4].
