I read with great interest the paper by Moreno-González et al. [1], who investigated the association between sarcopenia and kidney function in older adults, aged ≥75 years. Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) was calculated using creatinine and non-creatinine-based equations. The adjusted odds ratio (OR) (95 % confidence interval [CI]) of age, body mass index (BMI), disability performing instrumental activities of daily living (IADL), Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) score <24, osteoporosis, stage 4 chronic kidney disease with a non-creatinine-based eGFR equation for sarcopenia were 1.14 (1.09–1.19), 0.83 (0.79–0.88), 2.61 (1.69–4.06), 2.75 (1.62–4.67), 2.39 (1.55–3.67), 2.88 (1.11–7.49), respectively.
