It is well-established that women are underrepresented in leadership positions [1], undervalued in their academic careers, and experience gender discrimination in scientific and healthcare disciplines [2]. Thematic analysis of the literature highlights three key points related to the advancement of women in medicine [3]: a) Social Barriers: These include maternal identity and cultural pressure regarding work and family balance. [4] b) Building Resilience: The importance of role modelling, mentorship, sponsorship and support from others in fostering resilience.
