Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disorder characterized by systemic inflammation the primarily affects the joints, resulting in pain, swelling, stiffness, and functional impairment [1]. RA occurs in the elderly population, and cases with onset after the age of 60 are referred to as elderly-onset RA or late-onset RA. Patients with RA often age while living with the disease. Consequently, the proportion of elderly patients with RA aged 65 or older has increased, and they now account for approximately 30 % of the entire RA population [2,3].
