Timely administration of antibiotics is one of the most important interventions in sepsis management to improve patient outcomes and reduce mortality. However, the impact on mortality of the early administration of antibiotics (AB) has been debated for years. An association between increasing time to AB administration and patient mortality [1–3] has been documented but others have found that delays up to several hours do not negatively impact outcomes [4–6].
