Extubation, along with the entire process of weaning from invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV), represents a key phase in the management of the critically ill patient, as it significantly impacts clinical outcomes and survival [1]. Despite the importance of these phases, debate remains open regarding the most effective strategy to optimize weaning and reduce the risk of complications, such as extubation failure and the need for re-intubation [2].
