Europe leads globally in per capita alcohol consumption, followed by the Americas [1]. Alcohol use disorder (AUD) refers to impaired control over alcohol use, leading to physiological dependence and tolerance and detrimental psychological, social, and physical consequences. These disorders are highly disabling and associated with many physical and psychiatric comorbidities [2].
