Up to 20% of patients arriving at an emergency department (ED) may have a non-specific presentation (NSP). Previous studies have suggested that a NSP, despite the similarity of patient demographics between specific and non-specific presentations, may result in low-quality diagnoses, lengthened hospitalization [1] and increased 30-day hospital mortality [2,3]. It has been suggested that NSP can be screened with an algorithm and may require more attention having potentially more hospitalizations and a worse outcome [4].
