We read with great interest the article by Alipour et al. entitled “Role of sex and gender-related variables in development of metabolic syndrome” published in the European Journal of Internal Medicine [1]. The authors should be commended for their comprehensive assessment of sex- and gender-specific determinants of metabolic syndrome (MetS) using data from the large, population-based CoLaus/PsyColaus cohort. Their work provides valuable insights into how sociocultural and biological factors jointly influence metabolic health across sexes.
