Dear Colleagues,
As we welcome the autumn season across Europe, I am pleased to share some important updates and highlights from EFIM.
It was a pleasure to mark ten years of EFIM Day at our recent meeting in Brussels, where representatives from 25 national societies joined us for a day of engaging discussion and collaboration.
Furthermore, we are looking forward to gathering again at the next European Congress of Internal Medicine, ECIM 2026, which will take place in Vienna, Austria, from 25–28 March 2026.
We are proud to present a high-quality programme for ECIM 2026, made possible by the dedicated work of the EFIM Scientific & Executive Committee, featuring an outstanding selection of sessions presented by distinguished experts from across Europe and beyond.
I encourage you to explore the full programme on the ECIM 2026 website.
If you missed the initial abstract submission deadline, there is still time as the late-breaking abstract submissions are open until 21 November. We warmly invite you to share your research and clinical insights with our European community.
As usual, the EFIM General Assembly will be held on Wednesday, 25 March, prior to the ECIM 2026, and will provide an opportunity for productive discussions and updates on key EFIM projects and initiatives, including the election of the new EFIM Treasurer.
Planning ahead , the EFIM Winter School 2026 will take place in Bari, Italy, from 15–21 February 2026, and, for the first time, will be organised under the leadership of FADOI Italy and its President, Prof. Francesco Dentali.
We are excited to share EFIM upcoming initiatives, including the ESIM Summer School 2026 in June, the launch of Exchange Programs 2026 in December, the new collaborations with the EHAA and the ESC Stroke Council and the launch of the new EBIM who will resume the projects to advance internal medicine education.
I would like to thank you all for your continued commitment to EFIM and for supporting our initiatives and projects and I look forward to meeting many of you in Vienna during ECIM 2026.
We hope you enjoy this edition of the EFIM Autumn Newsletter!
