EFIM Launches Clinical Research Grants 2026

We are pleased to announce the launch of the EFIM Clinical Research Grants 2026 programme. 
The EFIM Clinical Research Grant 2026 aims to support innovative and collaborative clinical research projects in Internal Medicine, strengthening research capacity and fostering cooperation between EFIM Ordinary and Associate National Societies.
The grants are designed to encourage innovative research that advances patient care, promotes evidence-based practice, and strengthens the academic community within Internal Medicine.
 

Research Topics

Applications for 2026 are invited in the following priority areas:

  • Rare and Systemic Autoimmune Diseases
  • Multimorbidity in Internal Medicine

About the Grant

  • Number of grants available: 2
  • Funding per grant: €20,000
  • Funding duration: Up to 24 months

Eligibility Criteria

Applications must meet the following requirements:

  • Include at least one Young Internist as the main applicant (ideally a PhD student or Postdoctoral researcher).
  • A Young Internist is defined as:
    • A physician in training in Internal Medicine for at least 2 years and not older than 35 years of age,
      or
    • Up to 5 years after completion of specialist training and not older than 40 years of age.
  • The applicant must be affiliated with an EFIM Ordinary or Associate National Society.
  • The project must demonstrate clear feasibility within the proposed timeline and budget.
  • Each applicant and research group may submit only one proposal per call.

All applications must be submitted via the EFIM website.

Key Dates

Application period: 1 April – 31 May 2026
Decision notification: By 15 September 2026
