Dear Colleagues,

As we reflect on the first three months of 2026 leading up to ECIM 2026 in Vienna, I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the tremendous effort and dedication shown across our community.
As every year the months before the congress are one of the busiest and most productive, with many colleagues working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the scientific quality, organisation, and overall success of the ECIM 2026 and all upcoming EFIM projects.
I would like to warmly thank all participants who joined us in Vienna.
With over 2,500 attendees, ECIM 2026 in Vienna was a truly outstanding event, marked by excellent scientific programme and strong networking. I am also grateful to all EFIM national societies members who took part in the General Assembly, where the engagement continues to grow and strengthen EFIM.
I am pleased to share that we have welcomed two new members, the Korean Association of Internal Medicine and the Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine, bringing our federation to a total of 50 national societies.

At the same time, our work is already moving forward. The Executive Committee is actively preparing not only the next ECIM edition in 2027, but also laying the groundwork for ECIM 2028, alongside the development of new initiatives with our EFIM Academy that will further support education, research, and collaboration within our field.
I would also like to extend a warm welcome to our newly elected Treasurer, Dr. Kurrle from the German Society of Internal Medicine, and I look forward to working together in the coming years.
I am pleased to announce that we have officially launched the call for Editor-in-Chief of EJIM for 2027, alongside two Clinical Research Grants for 2026.
In addition, the EFIM Working Groups are working on new initiatives to be announced soon.

A brief update: the 11th EFIM Day will take place on 16 October in Brussels, offering an excellent opportunity for the leadership of EFIM member national societies to connect, exchange ideas, and engage with contributions from the EU community.

Finally, I encourage you to mark your calendars for ECIM 2027, which will take place in Paris from 31 March to 3 April.
We look forward to continuing this journey together.

Thank you all for your ongoing commitment and support.

With my best regards,
Prof. George Dalekos
EFIM President
