Clinical guidelines summarize and evaluate all evidence available on a topic, with the aim of assisting physicians in selecting the best diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for an individual patient with a given condition. Simplifying guidelines in order to be easily adopted from a broad part of health care professionals is of interest and may indeed improve the retention of the guidelines’ key aspects, however it must be done respecting their scientific background. That's why the class of recommendation (COR) as well as the level of evidence (LOE) are key elements in any guideline work .
