Frailty is a geriatric syndrome characterized by a cumulative decline in multiple body systems, which results in the reduction of individuals’ physiological functional reserve with increased vulnerability to external stressors [1]. Frailty thus negatively impacts individuals’ prognosis, leading to an increased risk of adverse events such as functional decline and disability, hospitalization, nursing home admission and mortality [1–5].
