In the last decades the epidemiological transition has brought to several acute complex (elderly, frail and poli-pathological) patients that access to Emergency Departments (ED) and require hospitalization, an increasingly hard challenge for healthcare systems. This entails prolonged boarding in ED and hospital overcrowding (especially in medical area), with secondary increasing of the bed occupancy rate and the outlying phenomenon [1].
