Despite the increasing prevalence of Haemophilus spp. isolates in urethral exudates in our health area, a city with more than 160,000 inhabitants in the south of Madrid, there are still uncertainties about the actual implication of this microorganism in infectious urethritis. Therefore, we conducted a descriptive study to analyze the characteristics of Haemophilus spp. urethritis in men in our area of influence, as well as the patterns of microbial resistance to the most frequently used empirical antibiotics.
