The current pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome CoronaVirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) prompted the rapid production of vaccines against the virus. In view of the seriousness of the situation, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) quickly approved several COVID-19 vaccines: the tozinameran mRNA (produced by Pfizer-BioNTech), the CX-024414 mRNA (by Moderna), the chimpanzee adenoviral vector CHADOX1 NCOV-19 (by AstraZeneca), and the adenoviral vector type 26 AD26.COV2.S (by Janssen).
