Attacks on universities during armed conflicts represent a profound threat to individual lives but also to the institutions that sustain knowledge, scientific progress, and social stability [1]. In addition, under International Humanitarian Law, hospitals and medical units cannot be targeted, burned, or destroyed during armed conflict and these attacks are considered potential war crimes. These attacks target science, health and the next generations [2].
