The recent publication by Pang et al. demonstrated significantly worse dialysis dependence for community acquired acute kidney injury (c-AKI) [1]. The severity of AKI in this paper was predominantly AKIN stage 3 (42.8%), and the severity was not compared to the AKI severity of the h-AKI cohort. However, all these patients required dialysis as inpatients and focused on inpatient care [2].
