Amyloidosis and aortic stenosis seem to frequently occur together [1]. This has mainly been found in patients suffering from wild-type transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTRwt) [2]. It is still unclear whether aortic stenosis also affects those with variant TTR (ATTRv) cardiac amyloidosis (CA). In two studies, the prevalence of cardiac amyloidosis has been as high as 11–26 % of patients with aortic stenosis who underwent aortic valve replacement surgery or transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) [3,4].
