We read with great interest the article “Left atrial enlargement and 1-year cerebrovascular events in subjects without atrial fibrillation: A prospective cohort study” by Clerici et al. [1]. The authors showed in a large-sample cohort study of subjects without known atrial fibrillation (AF) that left atrial enlargement (LAE) can independently predict cerebrovascular events (CVEs) within 1 year. This study provides important short-term prognosis evidence, but there are other aspects that need to be further elaborated.
