The climate crisis has evolved from a future threat into a present-day health emergency. Rising global temperatures, worsening air pollution, and frequent extreme weather events, all driven by greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel dependence, are contributing to a growing burden of disease, reshaping patterns of disease, exacerbating health inequities, and testing the adaptability of healthcare systems. The World Health Organization now considers climate change the greatest health threat of the 21st century.
