Sleep is a fundamental biological process that is essential for human life. A substantial body of research has indicated a correlation between inadequate sleep and adverse health consequences affecting cardiovascular, metabolic and immunological well-being, as well as mental and cognitive functions [1]. In 2022, the American Heart Association identified sleep health as a new component of cardiovascular health in a presidential advisory [2]. The advisory also established sleep duration as the eighth metric for defining cardiovascular health.
