Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide [1]. In addition to cerebral damage, medical complications such as pneumonia and venous thromboembolism (VTE), which includes deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), significantly worsen the prognosis.
