Dear Friends and Colleagues,
With the holidays approaching I would like to take the opportunity to look back at 2020 one more time in our winter newsletter. 2020 is the year when the COVID-19 pandemic forced the whole world to stop, to confine and re-confine after the summer to assure the control and ultimate defeat and prevention of COVID-19. The year 2020 was particularly challenging for all the internists in Europe and worldwide assuming a crucial role in the prevention and care of the COVID-19 patients in a variety of healthcare settings.
Together with EFIM Executive Committee and in collaboration with our national societies and partners EFIM has continued to develop its activities. EFIM organised several webinars, held the first virtual meeting with the Presidents of the EFIM national societies, organized the 1st virtual General Assembly successfully and established a high level scientific programme for the upcoming ECIM 2021 in March.
Furthermore, EFIM adopted the new Statutes in December, which were redefined according to the new Belgian Company law to reflect the current needs and manage the Federation more easily, and to benefit from the advantages offered by the New Company Code.
In 2021 we will continue to evolve as a team, ready to face new challenges and to fulfil our central mission to build programmes that will raise the profile of internal medicine and encourage greater collaboration of European internists in years to come.
I would like to wish to all our societies’ members and partners happy holidays and a successful and most important healthy New Year.
Have a wonderful break and looking forward to seeing you all virtually at the ECIM 2021 congress in March.
Prof. Nicola Montano
EFIM President
EFIM adopted the new Statutes in December, which were redefined according to the new Belgian Company law to reflect the current needs and manage the Federation more easily, and benefit from the advantages offered by the New Company Code.
All 31 Ordinary members approved the draft changes during the virtual General Assembly held on 25 September and granted EFIM Executive Manager, Mrs. Aneta Trajkovska with a proxy to hold an Extraordinary General meeting and sign the notarial deed at the notary office in Brussels.
